Aneeqa Abid

Aneeqa is a junior from Little Rock, Arkansas majoring in Human Biology. To her, the Markaz is a home, a family, and a support system that provides her with the nourishment she needs to thrive. Her favorite quarantine activity has been spending more time in nature.

Abiya (she/her) is a scholar-practitioner trying to finish her PhD dissertation while dealing with 2020. In quarantine, she’s loving traffic-free roads, intermittent social media fasting, and Lego with her toddler. Talk to her about: Catan winning strategies, sandwiches, and - if you really want to - the religious/secular “binary.”

Ayman Babikir

Ayman (he/him) is a junior majoring in MS&E from  Dubai, UAE. In quarantine, Ayman spends a lot of time following live sports, binge watching Survivor, and finding new music in languages he doesn't understand. Talk to him about: financial inclusion, entrepreneurship in the Middle East & Africa, soccer, and the latest productivity apps.

Manar Barsi

Manar (she/her) is a junior from San Antonio, Texas majoring in Economics. She deeply misses the tea cart and snacks in the Markaz kitchen. She is really passionate about educational equity, twitter memes, and all things politics.

Cassie (she/her) is a Bay Area local who is in a love/hate relationship with all things higher education. She lives in San Francisco with her partner Joe and wiener dog Clarence, and has a lot to say about education, public art, and local politics. In quarantine, she really misses public transportation and watches way too many movies.

Mahnoor is a junior from Islamabad, Pakistan majoring in Psychology and minoring in Economics. Maryam (she/her) is a sophomore from Kansas City, Missouri and Libya. In quarantine, she enjoys reading philosophical texts and contemplating life and its meaning.

Faatimah (she/her) is a senior majoring in African and African-American Studies and Human Biology from San Jose, CA by way of Khartoum, Sudan and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In quarantine, she’s learning how to roller skate and trying to find a good skincare routine. Talk to her about: cute tea mugs, astrology, and fostering healthy relationships with yourself and those around you.
